High-Flow Fuel Pump Fitting Upgrade Kit

Born out of necessity and frustration with the current plastic offerings, this kit was developed to improve component quality and ease installation. I had my own reservations with the quick-connect systems but after doing thorough testing and making sure I source the very best components, I’m happy to offer this solution. It has gone through a few iterations not through failure, but considerations in longevity, performance and value. The basic idea was to have an all metal fitting that still retained all the proper OEM function while being easy to retrofit. Many advantages grew out of that concept and created not only an emergency road side repair part, but a long-lasting solution.

Starting with CNC-machined billet aluminum blanks , we can now use off the shelf adapters to work with in the factory chassis lines OR a more modern system of your choosing. Higher strength materials mean larger port openings which reduce resistance and pump strain, right at the head of the fuel system. A high-quality all metal serviceable check valve is included at the highest spec with Viton seals and a stainless steel lock ring. Viton seals are also provided on the fittings themselves. The marginal cost increase in an area where we see enhanced performance with chemical and temperature resistance, ensuring longevity. The tool-less quick connect fittings, which are now ubiquitous in heavy industry, have proven reliable and reduce the time and expertise needed in working with the original nylon lines.

The rest of the design revolves around lengthening the fittings to account for the loss of cutting off the old fittings and creating a custom retainer and standoff. Everything down to the correct style Torx screw , specifically designed for threading into plastic, ensures everything is held securely in place has been chosen.

Lastly, if you are not excited about using the push-to-connect fittings and want a traditional barb and all the fun those bring, those are offered as well. They are certainly a well-known entity and could not be more simple or reliable assuming you have the correct tools , knowledge and equipment to fit them. You still get the benefit of all-metal, high-flow fittings that should last a lifetime.

Included in the kit:

  • 2 x Machined fittings for the ‘89-on fuel pump assemblies 1/4”-NPT threads

  • 4 x Viton pump housing seals

  • 1 x Outlet check valve

  • 1 x Outlet extension fitting

  • 2 × 8mm push-to-connect fittings OR barb adapters

  • Nylon standoff/plug retainer

  • Stainless steel hold down bracket w/screw

Tips for Installation:

  1. Tapered fittings should be assembled with fuel-safe thread sealant. Quick-connect fittings are already fitted with a dry gasket and do not require sealant

  2. Nylon lines should be clean and cut squarely with a proper hose cutter.

  3. Lubricate o-rings on fittings before installation.

  4. Push in nylon lines completely until end bottoms out in fitting. Give a gentle pull to confirm it has locked into place and double check system for leaks once fully assembled.
