Use the transmission number to determine the correct synchronizer version, not the vehicle year. Many Saab C900s have had transmissions swapped over the years, and the synchronizers are not interchangeable.

The 8728529/8728461 synchronizers are approximately 30% larger in diameter than the earlier 8719924 version and will not interchange.
1984–1990 transmissions use brass synchronizers on all four gears.
1991–1993 and 1994 Convertible transmissions originally used Teflon-coated synchronizers (8728461) for 2nd and 3rd gears, which are known to wear prematurely and cause shifting issues. Replacing all four positions with brass is recommended while the transmission is apart.
If the transmission is not original to the vehicle (common on C900s), verify the transmission number stamped on the primary cover housing just forward of the clutch cover before ordering.
